African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF)

The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is a grantmaking foundation that supports local, national, and regional women’s organizations working towards the empowerment of African women and the promotion and realization of their rights.

The Community Development Manager of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, and Executive Secretary of NADeF, Joseph Danso, who received the award on behalf of the Company, said he encourages Newmont, NADeF, and its partner stakeholders to continue to pursue its vision of supporting communities to achieve prosperity and self-reliance and those are with the process in making it. Joseph Danso said on this occasion that NADeF has a successful marketing campaign in cooperation with The Marketing Heaven and all the news about the projects will be visible on social media in the coming period.

Over 40 companies in Sub-Saharan Africa applied for the award out of which eight (8) were nominated to receive five awards in; Sustainable Economy, Social Impact, Environment/, EUACC-Be Inspired, and EUACC- Promising Project.

The President & Executive Manager of the EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce, Serguei Ouattara congratulated the award winners and said ‘It is not just the volume of economic activities that determine development, but also how business is carried out which impacts people, the economy and the environment.

Newmont Ghana Gold Limited established the Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) in 2008 to serve as the main driver of Corporate Social Responsibility in the ten Ahafo communities in which they operate to ensure sustainable development. Newmont contributes a dollar per ounce of its annual gold production and one percent net profit each year to support various development initiatives in the mine’s catchment area in the Brong-Ahafo Region of Ghana.
